You said stars had burned outI think you were always meant to know me a little better than anyone else. And our lives were fated to converge like some cosmic dance. I know there is terrible distance between us. But our bodies are made of celestial light, and we are hurtling through space and time, toward the most beautiful collision.Lang Leav, The Universe of Us
and assembled your misplaced soul
You said light was living in me
and eternity was a jewel in my eyes
You said ‘I love you’ the first time
you saw me, and I didn’t even blink
You said you belong to me
before you belonged to me
You said everything infuriatingly right
in a deep afternoon ruffle
You said, just get here Angie
,and I swear I’ve never left you steady

DeleteI wish we could both stop disappearing, but we do what we gotta do to be okay in our heads.
Love it.. I can read it two ways, this is a great expression of someone's love for you or you hear it, but not quite buying it. I have some trust issues. lol
ReplyDeleteThat’s funny Susie. Trust issues can be debilitating though so I shouldn’t laugh
ReplyDeleteI love your closing lines.
ReplyDeleteYou said ‘I love you’ the first time
ReplyDeleteyou saw me...
It is so seldom that the cosmic dance gets it right the first time. You need look no further for signs, just accept the marriage of true minds, and be blessed by it.
thanks for adding this Kerry
DeleteWhich poet are you paying tribute to? I missed that. But I like this poem a lot and the closing lines are stellar.
ReplyDeleteLang Leav is the poet. I inserted her work up front in quotes.
DeleteI think I can't live steady all the time or unsteady all the time. I waffle. Shay's Waffle House.
ReplyDeleteWhat shape is your waffle? That’s all I really wanna know
